Since our very beginnings, we’ve been drawn by a vision of creating better quality food to improve human health. And through staying true to that vision, we are constantly expanding our knowledge and innovating our methods, to increase the transformative results we are able to achieve.
Our Heritage
It all began with one man’s pursuit of better health.
Our founder, Tom Rowe, struggled with persistent sickness and fatigue—issues that medical professionals could not diagnose. Determined to find answers, he experimented with an all-organic diet, which led to an immediate and dramatic improvement in his well-being. His journey of discovery soon revealed a severe sensitivity to pesticides used in conventional farming—chemicals that ultimately find their way into the food we consume.
This realisation ignited a deeper search for knowledge. Tom and his family began to explore the direct connection between soil mineral balance, plant health, and the declining nutrient content of our fruits and vegetables—paralleling the increasing health challenges faced by society.
The conclusion was undeniable: improving the quality of our food is fundamental to improving our health. This concept is far from new—Hippocrates famously stated, “Let thy food be thy medicine” nearly 2,500 years ago. Yet, despite centuries of awareness, we are only beginning to understand how to quantify and define truly nutrient-dense food. There is still much to uncover in this critical field.
While organic and regenerative farming represent steps in the right direction, we must go further. The true measure of food quality lies in its nutrient density.
So how do we improve the food we eat? The answer is both simple and complex—by enhancing the mineral balance and biological health of our soils, we can profoundly improve the health of the plants they sustain.
Hybrid Ag was founded with a clear mission: to create better food by improving soil health.
Established in Melbourne in 2001, we pioneered a unique approach to prescription nutrient delivery—blending the best of organic principles with precise nutrient provision. Our services, grounded in comprehensive analysis and custom-tailored nutrition programs, quickly gained recognition, leading to rapid growth. To support this demand, we relocated to Wangaratta, North East Victoria, strategically positioned on the Hume Highway. Here, we maintain complete control over our supply chain, from sourcing raw materials to manufacturing, packaging, and distribution.
We stand on the shoulders of visionary researchers—pioneers like William Albrecht, Carey Reams, and Phillip Callahan—whose lifelong dedication to soil and plant health continues to inspire us. Today, we collaborate with some of the brightest minds globally, driving scientific discovery in soil and plant physiology.
