Natural Bird Deterrent

Birds and wildlife are naturally attracted to the vast variety of trees and shrubs that feature in our orchards and farms, and the apples, cherries and other fruits look just as appetizing to birds as they do to you. Without bird control measures, birds could eat and destroy a large proportion of your crop before you get a chance to pick a single fruit.

You’ve planted and pruned, watered and watched it grow. And now, at last, the crop of tree fruit is ripening on the branch. Then the birds descend. They perch and peck, pillage and plunder. And just like that, a perfect crop of tree-ripened fruit becomes a distant dream.

Short of grabbing a shotgun, what’s the average grower to do?

Hybrid-Ag has developed a new product to combat these problems without harmful effects on the birds or the environment and is totally safe to be applied to fruit for human consumption.

Bird Bane is irritating to the trigeminal nerves of birds which controls their taste, sight and smell. This makes anything treated with Bird Bane extremely distasteful to birds with the result that they avoid the area and in most cases don’t come back for feeding as they now associate that area as unpalatable to them (this only affects birds in this way and no other animals).

By treating only the tree canopy, the Orchardist can significantly reduce the damage to ripening fruit while allowing the birds to enjoy the surrounding vegetation.

Bird Bane is a proprietary blend of natural ingredients that have been tested on a number of bird species with dramatic reductions in activity on the treated area without any harm or suffering to the birds themselves. The active ingredient is a form of Methyl Anthranilate (MA) which is anextract of Concord Grape Juice – a beverage that is marketed as having amazing health benefits.
